Patrick Swayze dies at 57
Patrick Swayze died on Monday, Sept. 14, after a two-year battle against pancreatic cancer today. “Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” said a statement released Monday evening by his publicist, Annett Wolf. The legendary actor, 57, who has been immortalized with his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost among others films, was diagnosed from a particularly deadly form of cancer in March 2008. Although doctors gave him sonly weeks to live, an optimistic Patrick lived more than that. “I’d say five years is pretty wishful thinking,” Swayze told ABC’s Barbara Walters in early 2009. “Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.” Not only he will be remembered by his on-screen work, but his love behind the cameras. Patrick, considered a sex-symbol by women of a generation, was deeply in love with his wife, Lisa Niemi, whom he met when she was fourteen years old.

My heart goes out with family. Patrick you’ll be truly missed. RIP.
